Every law firm has a beginning, and ours started with a simple idea: great legal advice shouldn’t come with unnecessary barriers.

In September 2022, after years of working together at a national commercial law firm, John Mapleston and Hamish Thomas decided it was time to chart their own course. More than colleagues, they were close friends who shared a vision—to create a practice that combined the expertise of a tier-one law firm with the accessibility and personal service that clients were craving.

So, they took the leap. With little more than a determination to do things differently, TM Collins Law was born. The early days were spent taking their time and focusing on what mattered most: listening carefully to clients, providing clear and commercial solutions, and building relationships built on trust.

The response was immediate. Clients valued the quality of the work but also the honesty, speed, and value that came with it. They began to share their experience, recommending TM Collins Law to friends, colleagues, and businesses. Word of mouth became the firm’s strongest driver, and the practice began to grow—fast.

In just a short time, TM Collins Law has expanded into a team of 15 professionals, including nine experienced lawyers across a range of practice areas. With offices now in Melbourne and the Gold Coast, the firm is proud to advise individuals, families, and businesses across Australia.
